This is a question I get asked by guys a lot.

I have read countless articles on ‘How to become a male stripper in 10 steps’ and ‘the 5 best ways’ etc.

In reality, with a few things in place and showing some initiative, then there are really only 3 steps to get your foot in the door.

You don’t even need any dance experience.

I will say to become a great stripper however requires experience and time within the industry.

Before I tell you what these 3 steps are you need to know the difference between stripping in a male revue show and being a private show stripper.

This is important to know for later in the 3 steps.

Male Revue Show:

ree

This is like the Magic Mike movies, a group of guys performing on a stage to 50+ people.

The show usually runs for approximately 2 hours, consisting of a few group routines with each guy performing their own solo act stripping down to a g-string.

In between the solo acts there are some fun games to get the crowed involved.

Private Show Stripper:

A private show stripper is contacted by an agent to perform at parties such as hens, hucks (gay bucks party) birthdays and the occasional divorce party.

This involves you travelling to hotel rooms, houses and venues to perform for around 15 minutes and 95% of the time doing full nude shows.

Think of these ones as more up close and personal hence the name, private show.

The 3 steps

Step 1: The Body

How is your body looking?

Remember you are creating fantasy, you are trying to offer something different from what the client would usually see.

You do not have to be completely shredded like your going into a competition (doesn’t hurt though) but it does help if you are in good shape and nicely groomed.

Your aim is to have outline of abs (as a minimum) some muscle with little to no jiggle.

If this sounds like you then you are ready for step 2.

Step 2 – The Photos

Get at least 3 professional photos.

This will not only make you stand out from the other guys who apply (and will most likely send selfies) but also make you stand out to girls or guys looking for a stripper.

Photos are the way you get chosen for jobs when someone is looking for a stripper. The better your photos the more jobs you should get.

Pro Tip: Find a body shape that is sustainable – If you have photos of you completely shredded then you show up out of shape get ready to face some harsh comments and put downs that will be raining down on you from the party instead of money.

Have photos that reflect your all year body type. Which one is the professional photo?

That way you are not falsely promoting.

Step 3 – Apply, Apply, Apply

Google ‘Male Revue Shows’ and find one in your local area.

Apply as a dancer on their page…And that’s it!

They should be in touch with you or you may have to follow them up them but as far as getting your foot in the door this is the best way. Provided they like your look then you will get hired.

(9/10 times you will get hired)

Why a male revue and not a private show agency?

Apart from being very overwhelming in the beginning, another good reason to avoid agencies is because agencies are less likely to give you work if you have no experience.

Working for a male revue show they will help you with:

· Dancing and lessons

· Routines

· Costumes

· Shows

They will help, provide and guide all these things which take the pressure off so you can focus on learning.

Final Thoughts:

Working for agencies you can defiantly make more money but when you start out you must

learn the ropes. I cannot stress this enough.

Male revue shows give you many things to get you started but one extremely valuable tool they give you is…shows.

The more shows you do the better and more confident you will become as a performer.

Follow these 3 steps, take it slow, stay humble and you will progress much quicker than any other way that is recommended.
