How do I know what works and what makes a good strip song?
These questions are among a few that I get asked on a regular basis by males and sometimes females.
Over the last 15 years I have used 100’s of different songs and the one thing I hear time and time again during my shows (apart from he is the best stripper we have ever seen haha) is ‘I love this song’.
Hard Fact: Not everyone is going to like your look.
Fun Fact: This doesn’t mean they can’t have an absolutely awesome time and love your show.
I am going to give you what I would consider the ‘Golden 3’ rule of thumb criteria for music selection, and then my Top 5 songs that have worked for me and hopefully will work for you to bring out your inner stripper.
So, if you’re a seasoned stripper or someone who wants to strip for their partner (your a legend) follow these basic rules and those yawns will turn into screams in no time.
The Golden 3
1. The Fantasy:
Create the fantasy. For example, if you turn up as a fireman you want to set the fantasy straight away, at least for the first song. You want to bust through the door and throw the party girl or guy over your shoulder to something like Nelly – Hot in here not a Drake song.
Think about a suitable song to enter to, and then add songs after that are fun to get the party started.
2. The Music:
Knowing your strengths and weaknesses as a stripper will help you find songs you can dance to. I have seen ‘pony’ look like shit more times than it has been made to look good.
This is because of a few reasons:
· The performers skills as a dancer are less than average
· The song does not suit the style of the performer
· They think they are the real Magic Mike
When choosing music make sure you like and feel the song that way you can naturally move to it.
Leave being Channing Tatum to Channing Tatum and just be you…don’t be a sheep.
3. The Vibe:
Not everyone is suited to every song, you will encounter women and men from ages 18 – 99+. What songs you choose will really create the party environment.
Pro tip - Go for fun, nostalgic songs that also have a slight sexual connotation.
You are trying to create this fun party vibe so avoid monotone songs unless you want them snoring instead of screaming.
